Great, but has issues… I bought this about a week ago and it arrived just a few days ago. I really liked it, simple enough setup. However, my headphones randomly disconnect (still turned on) from my phone, and are unable to be phone via bluetooth. I am using an iPhone, and it’s not pairing to any other devices. I’ve factory resetted it. This bug can happen anywhere from about 10 minutes to 40 minutes from connecting my phone with the headphones. The sound is amazing, comfort is also amazing, and the design and ease of the headphones + case is very good as well. However, if I were to know that this headphone had a bluetooth issue as severe as this, I likely would not have purchased it.

Static in the right ear regardless of use scenario. WH-1000XM4 ver. 2.0.6. Annoying static in right ear starts after ~15 minutes use. Noise canceling On/Off, 1 device or 2, with audio or without. Phone call and video chat quality is good on my end. No one has complained about my audio quality, so I guess that is good. It is just this ANNOYING static.

Pump up the volume!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These Sony WH-1000XM4 Noise Canceling Bluetooth Headphones are sleek, lightweight and soft to the touch. I’m not normally a fan of over the ear sets, they tend to be tight. The WH-1000XM4 fit my large head comfotably with plenty of room for adjustment left on the headband to go larger. They charged up quickly and have an incredible battery life of nearly 30 hours. It connected easily to my phone and controls are simple to use. The sound quality of this headset is phenomenal the spacial separation and 360 suround features remind me of listening to music on my turntable back in the day. I developed some noise induced hearing loss over the years and having equalizer control over my music through the Sony app allows me to tune every frequency to just right level for a great listening experiance. They also paired up with my Smart TV so now I can watch movies at night in full surround sound without blowing my girl out of the room and still hear every word. This setup also come with 3 noise cancelation settings. You can have it muffled like regular headphones, block out nearly every sound around you or you can set it to allow ambient noise so you can hear the world going on around you while you enjoy your tunes. You can even touch the side and turn the music down to have a conversation and never take them off, move your hand and they crank right back up. The WH-1000XM4 headsets also come with a sturdy case and a few accesories that allow you to plug into any non bluetooth device or air line headphone connection during your travels. These headsets are comfortable enough to wear all day, listent to tunes, take care of your business on the phone and never worry about running out of power. You won’t leave home without them!

I did more research and found a lot of good reviews about this product. Day one and it is already way superb to Bose. The noise cancellation is way better yet I can still hear the people I am talking to. I love the touch features instead of buttons.

Junk maybe mine was defect but $300 mistake. After telling myself buying a quality pair of headphones was worth $300 plus i did the research an for the price point an value (so i thought) i landed here sony xm4. First off it never speed charged at all. Which was 80-90° the reason i went there. Thought i was doing something wrong until about a month in it started to charge when an how long it felt like meaning i could plug it in for hours only to pick it up an have 10° batterie. Than i started to notice an electrical burning scent coming from somewhere in my office i could’t locate but weirdly i only noticed while wearing headphones huh. Well 3rd month in an i now see the plastic around the port had melted, you know they did run noticeably hot since day one i just thought that was the large mega $300 components at work idk. Needless to say i would have been much happier sticking with $20-$40 headphones that sound same to me may not have noise cancellation but generally last about a year an don’t mind when they break. Also the text talk feature is a major pain. The music constantly would stop at any noise i turn off feature an if the headset rubbed against my hood or jacket it would turn back on. Answering calls sucked too since it would ring i could answer or accept call with headset but to engage i would have to fumble to locate my phone to switch from iphone call to headset every time an at-least 50° of calls hung up before i got there. It was a constant annoying race each call an if i missed someone important i would be upset an to some it all up. Thats what this purchased left me $300 broker an upset.

But they suffer from a common failure which leads to an extremely high-pitched and hearing-damaging squealing sound issuing unexpectedly from one side or the other. A quick search online shows this failure was not uncommon on the previous version as well. That being said, if you disable the feature, the headphones remain usable and are otherwise of good quality.

Screeching noise when ANC active. Loved at first…but just over a year and I started getting this intermittent high-frequency screeching noise from the right ear cup…goes away when I turn ANC off… an internet search seems like I’m not the only one experiencing this issue. Since past warranty Sony was no help…for the price I would expect a little lee-way on a warranty for one year!?!
I’m thinking of replacing but with my experience with the XM4 I thing I’ll go with the Bose 700 v the XM5

Poor performance for what I wanted. I bought this two years ago for listening to music while I practice dancing with other music playing. What I found out is that this head set is very sensitive to movement and it will turn on or off if I cough, moving my head a bit quickly. If all you need is to walk around and listen to music, then it is OK. However, after about half an hour or so, I found the tight headset is very uncomfortable. I have now been using my old Panasonic wired headset which is much comfortable than this.
The noise cancellation works and music listening is fine. However, if you want to wear it for running or dancing, then look for something else.

They work amazing – but one ear is getting staticy. I bought them in Feb 2022 – they worked great all up until the last 2 trips I took. I only use them when I fly – as its the only time I need over the ear headphones. So total I probably used them around 30 times at an average of 2.5 hrs of use.. so VERY minimal use. and one of the ears has a lot of static when playing sound. it started off minimal but now its getting to the point where they are hard to use. hoping the warranty actually works out – since I got 1 month left. but we will see. updates to come when I find out.
