Philips Norelco Body groomer Series 7000 – BG7030/49

Cuts great!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Oh God the Philips Norelco body groom 6000 and have been using it for about a week. I really like the features that the shaver has and find it comforting that it has a no neck or cut guarantee anywhere. It has on one side a five length adjustable trimmer and on the other side it has a 2D contouring shaver. The five length side is good for 3 mm to 11 mm length and the contour shaver is for closer. It didn’t take long to charge the battery and the run time was over an hour when testing it. It is not too loud either so that is very nice. It is made with high-quality parts and a rubberized grip for maximum comfort and stability. Overall I think they hit it out of the park with this shaver and would recommend it to anyone looking to groom their body.

A Great Device. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently got the Philips Norelco Bodygroom, a two in one trimmer and shaver. It must be said, up front, that this is a ***body*** hair trimmer and shaver… intended for your back, shoulders, chest, abs, underarm, arms, groin and legs. OOB, you get the two in one body hair trimmer/shaver, a cleaning brush, a proprietary charger, instructions, and a registration pamphlet. I am a hairy guy. Not quite sasquatch level, but not too far off, at least according to my wife. I have coarse hair also. It takes a pretty powerful shaver/trimmer to tame what I have going on. The short version is that the Philips Norelco Bodygroom has what it takes to get the job done, but please read on.

You get a four-way contouring/pivoting shaver that first cuts your hair (with pre-cut blades on either side of the foil) and then foil shaves it down. I typically trim my chest, etc. with an adjustable trimmer head to a little over a 1/4 inch. But, for the purpose of this review, I charged the bodygroom (the green LED blinked while charging and turned solid green when done) and tried the foil shaver on the upper portion of my chest, to give the area shape. It did a great job. Close, smooth, exact… and no nicks. Note that you do not need to put a lot of pressure on the Bodygroom as you move it across your body. The way that the housing is ergonomically shaped (with a non-slip housing) is perfectly positioned to give you the right amount of pressure and surface drag. And, this was a dry shave. Yes, there was some irritation as a result of the dry shave, but that’s to be expected… and the irritation went away pretty quickly. For the remainder of my body hair, I used the adjustable trimmer head. The trimmer head offers 5 trim lengths, ranging from 1/8” (3mm) to 7/16” (11mm). It includes a guard that is easy to adjust with one finger, as well as self-sharpening blades. I had my wife take care of my back (my first time doing that, for which she was very happy). In the shower, shower off, I took care of my arm pits, chest, and other areas. There were instances where the hair “clogged” the trimmer guard, but I haven’t had a trimmer guard yet where that didn’t happen. Turn it over, shake it off, keep soldiering through. Easy enough. After cleaning up the shag carpet on the shower floor, so as not to block up my drain, I then showered and, with the water running (and given the Bodygroom is “showerproof”/water-resistant – but don’t submerge it (e.g., in a bathtub or sink), of course), took another go. At no point (dry or wet) was there an instance when there was a pinch or pull due to the trimmer blades. The self-sharpening trimmer blade was key here. My one gripe about the use of the Bodygroom was that there were instances where I could feel “drag” from the trimmer guard across more sensitive areas. It wasn’t unbearable. And, after a little I was able to learn how to maneuver to avoid the drag. But, this isn’t my first rodeo with body hair trimmers. Yet, this was the first guard with which I experienced the issue. After all was said and done, I dried the Bodygroomer, removed the trimmer guard, popped off the blade head, and cleaned the Bodygroom using the included brush. Super easy.

According to the specs, the lithium ion battery in the Bodygroomer takes an hour to charge and offers 80 minutes of use. After a full charge, I used it for about 40 minutes total. It didn’t bog down once. I did recharge it before storing it and will likely charge it again before use, as I tend to go a little bit between “grooming” sessions. Other than keeping this thing clean, there’s no other maintenance. No oiling, no blade sharpening… nothing. Also, Philips Norelco offers a 5-year warranty. The manufacturer does make replacement shaving foil heads and shaving foil head cleaning spray, so just how long the foil head will last remains to be seen.

A few minor bones to pick. You cannot use this device while you are charging it – but, given you’re likely to use it in the shower, with the shower running… not being able to charge it while using it is likely a good thing. In addition, I wish it came with a case that held the Bodygroom, the charger, and the brush. I’ll likely end up throwing it in an oversized zipper sandwich bag but a travel bag would’ve been a very solid addition.

So, worth buying? Absolutely. For the reasons provided above, the Philips Norelco Bodygroom is a solid four star purchase and worth every penny. It’s ergonomic, easy to handle, provides two cutting surfaces (a foil shaver with pre-cutting blades and an easy to clean trimmer with self-sharpening blades and a 5-position adjustable guard), and thanks to those cutting surfaces gives you the versatility needed to shave your back, shoulders, chest, abs, underarm, arms, groin and legs. It holds a great charge and has enough power to make short work (see what I did there) of coarse body hair with zero problems. I wish it came with a travel bag, but c’est la vie. Gents, give this one a shot. You and your significant other will definitely appreciate it.

Good Groomer. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like this groomer. One of the best features is that I don’t have to multiple carry multiple attachments. The groomer comes with an adjustable shaver. It charges fast and the battery lasts a long time. I use it on my body, won’t use it for my face. I have another Norelco for face, which I have been using for almost a decade. This groomer is smooth and you can use it in the shower. I am not very hairy, so mileage may vary. The quality is good but not as good as my old shaver. Nice product and I recommend it.

Nice shave. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this Phillips Body groom 6000 showerproof body groomer in the mail and it is a pretty good product.It has skin protection so it doesn’t irratate my skin. It is nice that it is waterproof as you can shave in shower if needed. They contour shave head does a pretty good job and pivots to get difficult areas. The 5 position trim comb works well on trimming my beard to my desired length also.It’s nice that it is also cordless so no cord to mess with. Not sue if run time yet as I haven’t used enough to run down the battery. All in all Phillips produced a nice little shaver

Perfect in every way. Works juuuuust like it should. Easy to charge and even, dare I say it, fun to use! I had the old model and it lasted several, several years. Hoping this one will too.
